Preparing Your Surfaces

Wood surfaces must be clean, free of sanding dust, wax, grease, old finishes, mildew stains or other contaminants. Surfaces must be absolutely dry with moisture levels reading below 15%. Fill all nail holes with high-quality wood putty. Sand the wood surface to the desired smoothness using progressively finer grades of sandpaper to remove all scratches and nicks. On previously clear-coated surfaces, make sure surface is in sound condition and polyurethane is compatible with surface. Lightly sand existing surface before applying first coat.

Drying Time

Dries hard overnight. Recoat within 1 hour or after 24 hours, otherwise coating may wrinkle or lift. Poor ventilation, high humidity and low temperatures will lengthen dry time.

Cleanup and Disposal

Clean brushes and equipment with mineral spirits. Dispose of empty cans or unused portion in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. Close container when not in use. Soak oily rags, lambswool, steel wool, cloths or any other material in water after use to avoid spontaneous combustion. Danger: Rags, steel wood or waste soaked with this product may spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded. Immediately after each use, place rags, steel wool or waste in a sealed, water-filled metal container.
